My favorite place to scribble in my journal is at my local botanical garden. Even though I visit regularly, there is always something new to see. I’m always amazed at how the ever-changing cycles of the natural world seem to reflect my own lived experience.
Life is a lot like a garden. We plant seeds—of dreams, relationships, and personal growth—hoping they’ll bloom into something beautiful. But too often, we’re so focused on the harvest that we forget to appreciate the garden as it is right now. What if, instead of rushing toward what’s next, we took a moment to slow down and savor what’s already growing?
Look around. Maybe the seeds of positive change that you’ve planted are just beginning to sprout—small but full of promise. The kindness you offered someone last week, the new habit you’re trying to build, or the personal growth that’s just starting to take root. These moments deserve to be noticed and appreciated. The early stages of a garden may not look like much, but they hold the potential for something amazing.
Savoring what you have today is like pausing to admire the flowers that are already in bloom. The laughter of a loved one, the simple pleasure of morning sunlight on your face, the satisfaction of a task well done—these are the blossoms of life, and they’re worth noticing. Even the weeds—the struggles and challenges—serve a purpose, helping us grow stronger and more resilient.
So, take a deep breath. Listen to the rustling leaves, feel the earth beneath your feet, and appreciate this season of your life. Right now, your garden is growing—don’t forget to enjoy it.
